Sisters of Ambivalence Diptych 2019
My largest pieces to date (90 x 90 x 250 cm) produced using 3D Pen technology and Jesmonite resin. Harnessing both classical themes and contemporary practice, the Sisters of Ambivalence stand as molten gold sentinels representing the current polarised state of the UK.
The form was drawn, rather than sculpted, using a 3D Pen onto an altered mannequin. Jesmonite is then applied in layers adding strength and durability. The exterior surface was then sanded to produce a discernible visual plain. Gold leaf was then added to the exterior surface to produce the molten almost glowing effect.
The sculptures had their debut at Flux Exhibition 2019 at The National Army Museum, Chelsea, London in March 2019.
